Why Did My Pre-Workout Clump?
Pre-workout products have amino acid ingredients & their derivatives like citrulline, arginine, beta-Alanine, agmatine sulfate, betaine anhydrous, creatine, etc. These ingredients are hygroscopic – which means they attract moisture from the air and can clump together to form granules.
How Do I prevent My Pre-Workout From Clumping?
- Keep the silica gel pack inside the container. This little pack protects your pre-workout by attracting moisture, helping to minimise clumping.
- Use your pre-workout within weeks of opening, and shake or stir once or twice a week if not used too often.
- Store your pre-workout in a cool, dry place away from the bathroom or kitchen. However, if you live in a hot & humid area, you can store your pre-workout in the refrigerator.
How To Fix My Pre-Workout If It Clumped?
You can:
- Give the container a good shake.
- Break the clumps with a steel fork or knife.
- Put the powder in a blender and blend. Then you can return the powder to the container.
Are Clumpy Pre-Workouts Still Safe To Use?
100% Yes.
It is by no means that the product quality or effectiveness has been compromised. As we have learnt, it is completely normal and occurs because of the natural hygroscopic ingredients used.
